When is flip flop weather

Trust us, getting caught in a spring rain shower in sandals leads to nothing but freezing toes and very uncomfortable onlookers; stick to the boots for now. Yes, we said socks — that rule is out. Pairing up your sandals with a cute pair of socks or a sleek pair of tights will keep your feet and legs warm and protected from the unpredictable spring weather and make a fashion statement all of its own, so you can create the style you want without the compromise. One thing we would say, however, is that it is definitely too early for flip flops.

The fluffy thing is just a front, you know — fashion people are secretly really nerdy about stuff like this. I remember the hot air of the heater on my toes, and gazing out on a world glinting with frost. I remember how my brothers and I skated across it in our shoes, falling, falling, falling some more. Now, ice is a hated thing. It slicks the interstates a few days a year. It freezes and bursts the pipes on a Tuesday; by Wednesday night, people are in flip-flops.

It is not a season but an aberration. Better to shelter in place like Mama, I guess, and remember ponds of silver and hope that, up there in the tundra, they get that darn snowblower cranked.
