Forts Trail Region. The RV park is located at the entrance to the ranch and is very simple. All gravel with some grass. Sites are very close together, do not think there is room to open slide outs and put out awning without hitting RV next to you. We were there in off season and did not have the problem. The sewer connections are all well above ground level.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The ranch looks like a great family destination for summer activity. The RV portion of the ranch leaves a little to be desired.
No public showers. Not sure if I would stay here again do to the closeness of the RV's. We camped at Prude Ranch in a Motorhome. Beautiful view. Staff was friendly and courteous. The setting is nice and scenic. There is only 30 RV sites not 40 and most are not level. The first site they put me in was so unlevel that my front wheels were over 9 inches off the ground when I got level and the bottom step was almost 2 feet off the ground.
Only 3 sites are 50 amp, the rest are 30 amp. The sewer hookups are mostly between inches above ground level. Water pressure was good. Power and water pedestals look like they came from the Dark Ages. Appears that all work to improve the RV sites has stopped some time ago. Not sure about Restrooms or Showers. If there are any they would be in the office or the cabins. Most sites are back-ins, others they classify as pull-thrus are actually where you "pull-thru" into a pasture and pecan grove to turn around.
I will not return. The state park nearby was full, so when I saw Prude Ranch listed on this site, we decided to try it since we had previous experience here in regular cabins. This is NOT a full-service park, although they had full hookups. The facilities, like hookups, showers and bathrooms, are somewhat dated, and the sewer hookups weren't working when we were here.
The sites are next to a rodeo arena in a grassy field. But the service was good and the surroundings beautiful. It was just what we needed for our two-night stay. Tip for Other Campers: There are lots of things to see just up the road: the town of Fort Davis, a National Monument fort, an observatory and a gorgeous state park are just a few miles up the road, and there are several scenic drives you can take.
Depending on the time of year, Prude Ranch offers horseback rides and dinner or breakfast, and a pool. Well worth the drive past Davis mountain state park. Full hook ups! Use your own facilities. It is not perfect but a work in progress. The people make this a special visit. Will definitely make this an annual stop. Beautiful peaceful area. It's quiet, scenic and the staff is friendly and helpful. We were there in a slow time of the year and had the whole place to ourselves.
Bathrooms were tired and spartan, but clean and well supplied. Easy to get to town, the MacDonald observatory, the historic Fort Davis, the beautiful State Park and other locations. Would stay here again without question. Restrooms and showers were not so clean. Sites are narrow, way too close together. Wifi available at office sometimes.
